WRITING REFLECTION 7

For this writing reflection I chose Hugh, Breanne and Beth ‘s blogs to comment on. I chose them because I notice that their postings are relatively easy to understand/relatable/interesting. Hugh’s post’s are always about sports, and I’ve been watching the playoffs so I pretty much know what’s going on.  Breanne’s post was about Big Band Dance, and if you’ve never gone, well you’re missing out big time. It’s a very good excuse to get dressed up and have fun. Beth’s posts are very to the point, I’ve hear that some of her own photography is on flickr and highly ranked (not in with that lingo) which I found was super neat. Overall, this task of commenting is a little forced but I guess it does help us learn more about each other and hear what others have to say.

PERSONAL ADDITION

i was just thinking and i realized that on friday when i glued my blackout poems on to the poster paper, i dont remember where i put it... so im scared im going to go to class tomorrow and its going to be gone. if anyone sees it, its half done and does have my name on it please tell me :( ps. feel free to not read them.. their a tad embarassing.

PERSONAL ADDITION

So this year I'm going to country fest for the first time, it starts on june 28th (day of grad) and goes until sunday july 1st. I honestly don't know which event I'm more excited for, grad or cfest. I live for country. Was seriously considering not going to safe grad or the dinner to at least be there opening day, but its only BTO that I'm missing. I am staying with jordyn lums and her boyfriend, and my boyfriend. Should be great.  Needed to share my excitement :)

READING REFLECTION 7

Title: Fall to Pieces
Author: Mary Forsberg Weiland
Pages read:  1-15

I have just started a new book called Fall to Pieces. I was planning on starting the Hunger games but, I lost interest… I have found in the past that books about drugs always interest me the most. Not because I can relate to the drug use but it’s just super interesting because I know of people who could easily relate to the story. The back of the book sort of gives me the impression that it is specifically about mental illness and drug use. I also found out it is a true story. When I read about true stories it makes the text to world connection a lot easier to relate. Hence how I feel it can easily relate to a lot of people I know of. I am hoping that this memoir is entertaining and doesn’t drag on like the past books I have read. I have only read a few pages up to this point but so far I like how it is structured; super easy to understand and no play on words that make you think. Ive come to the conclusion I need to find books that don’t need a long attention span and that aren’t too complicated. Just easy reading.

READING REFLECTION 6

Book: The Lost Boy
Author: Dave Pelzer

I have stopped reading my book completely. Because of fashion show I have yet to start another book but once it’s over (Monday/for next reading period) I am going to pick a new book to start. Everyone is still in the phase of the hunger games. I was super against it in the first place and had no desire at all to read any of them or see the movie, but I may have been persuaded. I’m thinking of starting the series, honestly just to know what everyone has been talking about and so everyone stops getting mad at me when I say I haven’t read them or seen it yet. Overall I am predicting a book I have yet to start, but since everyone is obsessed with them I have very high expectations and I’m really hoping they won’t be brought down. Mind you everyone went through a phase of twilight and vampires and I had no desire at all to see the movies or read the books. We’ll see… I think I might be better off reading books that are more realistic as oppose to books that literally have no relation to life or me.

My first comment was on Hugh's blog. I commented on his because he was walking around at the famine reading with his beats on his ears listening to jazz. I listened to it and it seemed super  distracting, but whatever works for ya! My second comment was on Jordyn's blog. She had shown me her dress a long time ago and i originally thought the back was the models hair because she showed me on her phone but now that i looked at it on here i can actually see the lace ! My third comment was on Breanne's blog about her Easter egg hunt. She didn't like the fact that  she had to do an Easter egg hunt with her sister. I however would kill for my mom to set one up for me again. I don't want to grow up.

I find commenting on others' blogs hard because I never really know what to write first of all and second, they never respond. Hopefully I'll get something out of it this time ! Commenting on someones blog is almost only completely not awkward if your friends with the person. which is why i chose Hugh Jordyn and Breanne.

READING REFLECTION 5

Book: The Lost Boy
Author: Dave Pelzer
Pages: Chapter 5

Still reading the same book I have been for the past month. I’ve found recently that I have no time to read at home anymore so I’m not really getting much further in my book besides when we silent read in class. Even in the silent reading classes I feel like I could be doing something else and I’m starting to have trouble concentrating on my book. Good thing it’s not too hard to follow. I really wish I liked reading more. Everyone just finished going through the phase of reading the hunger games and I literally had no desire to read them even though everyone said that they’re amazing. I feel like I’m having trouble motivating myself to read I guess. I was super into my book in the beginning and thought it was so good and now I could care less. Time to switch books, to get my interest back.
I have gotten to the point in my book where I don’t have any hope of anything else happening worth staying around for. No more problems, climax or exciting events.

WRITING REFLECTION 5

This past week working on “my moment” I guess really in my eyes didn’t go too well. The VAKS’ing and show don’t tell things are still a little foreign to me. I feel like my moment could still use some work but I really wouldn’t know where to start.
I looked up “fan fiction” on google really having no clue what it was, and from what I read it is almost a response to a book that its fans write about  and it is never published. Don’t fully comprehend it, but I guess it could be interesting.
I think we could do the twitter thing. It actually takes a lot of effort coming up with a cleaver tweet that is within the character limit and it really makes you think of what you’re writing, if some of what you’ve written is necessary or not. I’d like to try it !

COMMENT

"The first chapter in the first book ended abruptly and never continued throughout the rest, it however continues into this book. The structure of the novels is very odd, but makes a lot of sense to me."

- Expand on this a little bit more, what exactly do yo mean?

- What I mean by this is that because the book is so jumpy, only someone who is reading it would really understand it.  I understand it well because I had read a lot further past the first chapter and it all started coming together when I wrote about this.
